The Reason Why Your Child Needs To Wear A Swim Diaper In The Water

If you think about water safety the first thing that usually will pop into your brain is drowning. Well it is definitely one of the highest risks when swimming but there is more. Germs can contaminate pool water and can cause RWI - recreational water illnesses.

These illnesses are spread by drinking pool water that has been contaminated. Contamination is spread when someone's fecal matter gets in the water.

I know that the germs causing these RWIs get wiped out by the chlorine in the pool water but that doesn't happen straight away after an accident. Some germs like Crypto can live more than a day in chlorinated water.

As babies and some toddlers are not fully potty-trained most pools require that they wear a swim diaper approved by the CDC.

Swim diapers are not like ordinary diapers as they do not absorb water. What they are presumed to do is to contain any solid waste in. Though it is true that swim diapers do not guarantee non-leakage on 100% if used with some precautions they will block the germ spread.

Mothers can choose from disposable and reusable swim diapers to buy. The two have their benefits and disadvantages but I personally recommend using the reusables.

The reason I prefer reusable swim diapers is they are much cheaper in the long term though the initial expenditure may seem huge. In fact your infant will need only two or three cloth swim diapers so you can change them if there has been a poo accident.

You can wash them in the laundry with other clothes and towels. I wouldn't advise that you put your baby in a standard cloth diaper cover. Generally it will do the same work but the chlorine in the water will destroy the fabric.

If you despise the thought of washing a soiled diaper than you should go for the disposable alternative. Disposable swim nappies come in packs as regular and you throw them away after each use. I wouldn't recommend using a sposie more than once though it can survive a couple of laundry cycles.

The negative aspect of using disposable swim diapers is they will need more room in your bag and they are quite uneconomical.

When you go choosing swim diapers you should keep some important checkpoints in your mind.

A great swim diaper should be comfortable, easy to put on and pull off when dirty and should be made of a soft fabric that won't give your child a rash. My advice is to choose an adjustable swimming diaper, there are options with Velcro, snaps and strings so it fits snugly the baby's body.

Both reusable and disposable swimming diapers have a great collection of colors and models to choose from. Especially if you have a baby girl you may find it to choose only one or two as they are so cute.
