Modern String Lights - Perfect For Screened Patio
We are all familiar with festoon lighting - strings lights used around the holidays. So we took those back and got three containers of medium bulb Xmas lights. These came with more simple electric wire and larger bulbs. They were named C-7's. You can buy C-9's if you want bigger bulbs. There are various bulb shapes and forms to choose from, all the way up to common sized bulbs.
Each bulb has a little clip in order that it can be hung on the cord. We spaced the lights out, and then pulled the strand tighter. This type of light strand can be take off, so there was no excess by the end. When the strand is cut, you will need some black electrician's tape in order to seal the end.
When the light strings are already turned on we had a pleasant surprise. The lighting was beautifully diffused all the way through the room. It turned out to be so soft and diffused that it looked as if moonlight. Strings of little lights have a special ambiance - they remind us of celebrations and festive times. It was entertaining to re-interpret this particular familiar lighting style for regular use.
